Hardware/software engineer

We are looking for an experienced, low-level, hardware orientated C/C++ developer used to working in a memory-constrained multiple micro-controlleer environment overseen by small, low-powered computers such as miniature ARM based Linux systems.

The position involves hardware prototyping of multiple sensors and computing devices: the collection, processing and analysis of many data sources for UAV flight control and for flight and mission monitoing and command.

The successful candidate will be comfortable with rapid prototyping and iteration of different systems as well as working with large amounts of real-time data.

You will need to self-motivated and able to get your hands dirty with a large pile of sensor systems and real flying devices. You will have a degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject such as maths, computer science or electronic engineering. You should be comfortable with;

  • C++/C development in a real-time, memory constrained environment: Arduino type environments and ARM based small Linux computers, for example.
  • Electronic engineering: prototyping of multiple sensors, such as GPS, GSM and Gyroscopes, wiring and writing software to gather and process sensor data.
  • The maths for 3D positioning, navigation and flight control: this is real software controlling real hardware.
  • Secure communication of processed sensor data to command server and recieving and processing of data from that server (JSON, REST, etc).
